Better Living In Charleston, West Virginia

The goal of the "Better Living" program/project is to assist Charleston residents and property owners in cases where either, (property owner or tenant), is abusive, neglectful, and or destructive. This program and project is a direct reaction to the numerous complaints in our survey with regard to a "slum lord" problem.

Focus will also be placed on property owners who do not keep property at code and tenants who create harm and disturbance to the property and or surrounding neighbors. Safer Charleston, WV will assist with referrals to appropriate agencies for assistance. We will also assist by attempting to make information available on what is legally expected of property owners and tenants in such relationships. Through a sharing of ideas we also hope to include ways citizens may deal directly with some issues in a safe and legal method.
